Expressions New Year Resolutions

Updated: Mar 20, 2020

During our November board meeting, some goals were laid out. These are the studio's equivalent of New Year's resolutions.

Do more Community Service Oriented Events

We thoroughly enjoyed last year's Golden Era Hafla benefiting the Music Therapy Program through the TMH Foundation. We were able to raise $224 for them with only a month's notice. This is something we surely want to do this event again but bigger!

We also normally have at least one or two studio members participate in Shimmy Mob which is an annual event put on by the bellydance community overall to benefit shelters for victims of domestic abuse as well as bring awareness to the issue. We highly encourage non-dancers to participate, you don't have to be great at dancing to be great at making a difference *wink*.

We already either charge less (or waive the charge entirely) for charity events, but we do want to add other community centered events of our own.

Highlight More Local Talents for Workshops

Instead of bringing in workshops teachers from across the country, we could make sure we're learning from and making use of the teachers in our own backyard.

Speaking of which, come learn to make bra tops from Omega this weekend #shamelessplug

Get Better at Communicating

This is a standard resolution for many people, but it doesn't make it any less important. Both within and without, we're working on it.

That's it! Let us know if you have suggestions for us to improve this year!
