Our History

The Women's Bellydance Center was founded in 2005 by Julianna as a safe place for any dancer to come and be nurtured. The troupe Dendera Dancers were created in 2006 to showcase the hard work of our bellydance students and Darkly Sparkly (our ATS-inspired tribe) followed in 2012.

In 2018 Julianna decided the studio needed to do more to reach the wider community and the concept for the Expressions Movement Studio was born. We mapped out a vision to include more community events, discounts to help those who want to dance but find it hard to afford and an emphasis on wellness.

Effective January 1, 2019 we became the Expressions Movement Studio. Our inaugural directors are Julianna, Artistic Director, Aya Baheera, Director of Marketing and Events, and Paloma Phoenix, Director of Operations.  We are a registered nonprofit with the state of Florida and our story has just begun.

Testimonials

"I can definitely say that the Women's Bellydance Center changed my life. It is a place where one can learn and grow as a dancer, regardless of what level you are classified as. The teachers and the classes sincerely facilitate learning and confidence for all their members, making this experience very worthwhile.

The teachers are extremely talented and caring, the environment is fun, and students receive personal help since the classes are small. Confidence, stage performance, and your skills as a belly dancer grow so much, and I am so glad that I took part in this! I have recommended this place to people and will continue to."
